The Celtics bring in a 27-2 record while the Lakers are a Western Conference-leading 23-5 after a 100-87 victory at New Orleans on Tuesday night in the finale of a four-game road trip. The Lakers enter the game with an 11-game winning streak at home, giving them a 14-1 home record this season.
"It's good for the game," Lakers star Kobe Bryant said of the pregame buildup. "Growing up in high school, you hear Bulls and Knicks, Lakers-Celtics and all this other stuff. The hype is what creates the atmosphere and the energy for people who watch the game. It's enjoyable for us to be a part of it. Regarding the Celtics, Bryant said: "Unbelievable. They're just playing phenomenal basketball and it's fun to match up against a team like that."
Bryant concedes the Celtics were the stronger team in the finals. The Lakers should match up better now with the return of center Andrew Bynum, who was sidelined most of last season with a knee injury, and forward Trevor Ariza, who was recovering from a foot injury during the finals and wasn't at full speed.
"We've got a couple guys obviously that weren't there for us last year that are here now, and that helps our depth tremendously," Bryant said. "We've got guys that are tough and Boston was just physically stronger than us. That's why everybody hit the weights and like I said, it will be fun to see where we stand right now."

Arkansas' basketball team resumes practice tonight after getting a four-day Christmas break.
The Razorbacks (8-1) have been off since beating Stephen F. Austin 67-51 last Saturday night.
Coach John Pelphrey is summoning the players back to Walton Arena for practice tonight because Arkansas plays Northwestern (La.) State (8-4) at 5 p.m. Saturday.
"This first practice will be challenging as far as getting a lot of execution done, because we'll be trying to get conditioning back," Pelphrey said. "But we'll do it. We'll figure it out."

"The more we get in the gym, the quicker those guys will get back and hopefully get in a rhythm," Pelphrey said.
Arkansas has won six consecutive games and played its best two games, Pelphrey said, in beating Austin Peay and Stephen F. Austin last week after completing first-semester final exams.
"For a coach, there's always something that you're dealing with," Pelphrey said. "We're heading into finals, we're coming out of finals, we're getting ready to go on Christmas break, now we're coming back from the break.
"You're always concerned. And obviously with us, playing our two best games and then having four days off doing nothing ... There's plenty going on here with that.
"We want to get back to practice and playing, and hopefully we can play well."
Pelphrey said he told the Razorbacks not to play any pickup games during the break while they were home.
"Hopefully they won't play and jam a finger or get hurt," he said. "I hope they'll just stay at home and enjoy their families and we'll deal with everything when we get back."
When Pelphrey met with the media Monday, it was pointed out to him that Arkansas has won its first game after Christmas the previous 19 years.
"Thanks," Pelphrey said. "Now I get to think about that for the next four days.
"Obviously, there have been tremendous players here, tremendous coaches, and those guys came out of the break and performed well."
